Volunteer Opportunities

Let’s Work Together

The Y is a cause for strengthening communities. W e work tirelessly to nurture the potential of kids, improve individual health and well-being, give back and support our neighbors.

Each of our volunteers helps deliver the benefits of good health, strong connections, greater self-confidence and a sense of security to all who seek it.

When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood.

Here are examples of how you can get involved at your Y:

· Policy volunteers

serve on committees, advisory boards, and the board of directors. These volunteers help staff achieve the YMCA’s mission. Policy volunteers provide strategic direction to the YMCA and organizational governance, lending us their professional expertise and sharing their passion for strengthening our community.

· Program volunteers

lend their time and talent to programs important to them – and the community. Whatever your skills, interests or schedule, we will match you with a rewarding volunteer experience. As a program volunteer, you can mentor or tutor a child, read stories to young children, coach youth in sports or be a referee, lend a hand in teaching swimming lessons, greet members, assist in the office, lead a group exercise class, bake goodies for family nights, or help coordinate a group outing for our seniors.

· Annual campaign volunteers

help raise funds to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. At the Y, no child, family or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. Funds raised on behalf of the Y, are utilized to make a meaningful, enduring impact right in your own neighborhood.

· Capital campaign volunteers

help the YMCA raise the funds necessary to build a new facility in our community, as well as, renovate our existing aging and inadequate facility. With improved access and equipment, we can work side-by-side with our community partners to strengthen the health of your community.

· Special event volunteers

make YMCA special events…..well, special! Volunteers of all ages help make Halloween at the Y, Healthy Kids Day, Road Races, Family Nights, Community Block Parties and other special events successful and fun.
