WELLNESS CENTER ORIENTATION

An Overview of the YMCA Wellness Center Cardio & Weight Rooms.

The YMCA offers a wide variety of Cardio Equipment for our members to enjoy in the Wellness Center. We have upright and recumbent bikes, NuSteps, Step Mill and Stairmasters, Treadmills, AMT Machines, Ellipticals and Cross Trainers. Our trained Wellness Center Staff will take you on a guided tour of the cardio and weight rooms and  help you feel comfortable on any and all of our cardio equipment. Your instructor will also explain the weight room layout, which includes the Nautilus strength training circuit, cable machines, free weights and more. This free session will last approximately 30 -45 minutes.

NAUTILUS STRENGTH TRAINING EQUIPMENT ORIENTATION

A concentrated session focusing on the Nautilus Strength Circuit.

YMCA Wellness Center instructor will introduce you to one of the most sophisticated and easy to use  lines of equipment available. We have 18 pieces of 2ST Nautilus machines which offer a total body workout. This user-friendly equipment has hydraulic seats for easy setup for members. Nautilus machines can be used to enhance your workout or provide you with a complete circuit strength training program. This free session will last approximately 30 – 60 minutes.

FITNESS TRAINING ORIENTATION

A session with a Y Personal Fitness Trainer.

Whether you are new to the Y or are looking for some new ideas, you can take advantage of this new program! A Y Personal Fitness Trainer will meet with you, discuss your past activities, assist you in determining your fitness goals, and provide suggestions for new training activities that you can try, including various cardiovascular and weight training options. This free session will last approximately 30 – 60 minutes. (Note: limited to one session per member – does not include a fitness evaluation.)

YOUTH FITNESS MEMBERSHIP (Y.F.M.)   New!

For youth ages 10 and over.

This newly-designed program provides youth with more fitness options and allows them to utilize the cardio and weight rooms in the Wellness Center. Youth are invited to get their Youth Fitness Membership (Y.F.M.) which will allow them to use the Wellness Center any time during staffed hours when they present their Y.F.M. membership card. To obtain this membership, youth will attend an orientation class to learn how to use designated cardio machines (stationary bikes, treadmills, cross trainers, etc.) as well as appropriate Nautilus strength training machines for upper body, lower body and abdominal strengthening. They will also learn how to correctly perform exercises such as abdominal crunches, push-ups and more. For those interested, a program design will be available to help participants easily build various workouts which incorporate cardio, strength, core and stretching components. Youth will also be coached on appropriate gym etiquette. Wellness center staff will be available to assist our Y.F.M. participants.

Y.F.M. members may use the Wellness Center any time during staffed hours with or without parent or guardian:

Monday through Thursday: 9 am – 1:30 pm / 4 pm – 10:15 pm

Friday: 9 am – 1:30 pm / 4 pm – 8:45 pm

Saturday, 7 am - 5:45 pm

Sunday, 11 am - 5:45 pm

Members age 15 and over may use the Wellness Center any time.
