Capital Campaign Gifts

“The Y Family Center has been an integral place in the lifelong fitness of our family. We feel that physical fitness is what contributes to balance in our lives and promotes physical and emotional health and well-being. Our Y Family Center has been here for our community and now its time for us to rally in building a new facility!” – Jim and Mary Dale Hansen, Grand Forks, ND

Give, Build, Grow

A grass-roots group of citizens in your community came together with a goal of building optimum community well-being for all citizens through a one-stop, first-of-its-kind facility, integrating fitness, medical and behavorial health, nutrition, arts, recreation and research, as well as, enhance the existing aging YMCA facility. Through the leadership of the Grand Forks Park District, along with the Grand Forks YMCA Family Center and Altru Health System, a capital campaign was launched to make this dream a reality.

Within the new wellness center and updated YMCA, it is our belief that the Greater Grand Forks Community and surrounding area will receive optimal health and wellness benefits through a more efficient use of the combined knowledge, expertise, resources and strengths of our organizations, along with many other valued and respected partners, unlike any other collaboration. One of the critical partners necessary in this collaboration, in making this transformational change within our community, is the USDA-ARS Human Nutrition Research Center, who will be conducting obesity research in both facilities. This unique set of partnerships will serve as a national model of best practices, impacting the way our nation addresses health and wellness in the future.

Your gift is needed to support the capital costs of the new center, renovations to the YMCA and growth of the scholarship fund. To date we have achieved over 80% of our campaign goal. However, with your help, we can finally achieve this dream for a healthier community. Naming opportunities are available for businesses, families and individuals to be recognized as being a part of this historical project. Each and every gift is important and appreciated. Recognition will be given as a special thank you to those who support the campaign on a donor wall located in both facilities.
