YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Position: School Age Program Coordinator

Full Time or Part Time

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA educational program(s). Assist the Child Care Director in providing a warm and nurturing environment in which children can grow physically, intellectually, and have fun in a safe, supervised environment.

Essential Functions

1) Manages, directs and coordinates the school age child care programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 2) Assists with staff recruitment, hires, and trains, develops schedules and directs personnel and volunteers and needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

Requirements 

  1. Bachelor’s degree or Associate Degree in related field or equivalent preferred. 2) One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.
  2. Must have a current CPR Certification or willingness to complete.
  3. Must be willing to complete any ongoing training as required by the State of ND for licensed child care.

Position Summary

Implements a high quality YMCA child care program and provides direct supervision of a group of children in a school age setting. Assist the School Age Site Leader in providing a warm and nurturing environment, in which children can grow physically, intellectually, and have fun in a safe, supervised environment.

Qualifications 

  1. High School graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  2. Previous experience working with children preferably in a child care or camp setting.
  3. At least 16 years of age.

 

 

Position: Infant/Toddler Caregiver

Days/Times

AM & PM Hours Available = Monday thru Friday

Duties

To provide a warm and nurturing environment in which children can grow in spirit, mind and body, while having fun in a safe and supervised environment. Implementation of planned daily activities that are educational, creative and developmentally appropriate.

Qualifications

  1. Must have a high school diploma and previous experience working with children. A person with any educational classes or background in an area working with children is desired.
  2. Must have a current CPR Certification or willingness to complete.

HEALTHY LIVING

Position: Lifequard

Duties:

To provide a safe and friendly environment for members and guests during lap swim, family swim, open swim and other special aquatic events. Other responsibilities will include basic pool area and record upkeep, with any other assigned duties by the Aquatic Director as needed.

Requirements:

Must have a current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification or willingness to complete.

Must have a current First Aide Certification or willingness to complete.

Must have a YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or willingness to complete.

Position: Swimming Instructor

Various Days and Hours

Duties:

To provide a safe and friendly environment for participants during swimming lessons. Ability to teach all six levels of YMCA V6 Swim Lessons. You must have a strong desire to work with young children in a very challenging environment, be outgoing and an energetic person. Other responsibilities will include daily safety checks, evaluations of students, maintenance of swimming equipment, with any other assigned duties by the Aquatic Director.

Requirements:

Must have a current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification or willingness to complete.

Must have a current First Aide Certification or willingness to complete.

Must have an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification or YMCA Principles of Swimming or willingness to complete.

Position: Youth Fitness Class Instructor

Days/Time:

Variable: Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:00 – 7:00 pm, starting in February of 2019.

Duties:

To plan and implement appropriate fitness activities for SPARK youth group exercise classes within the approximate ages of 8 – 12 years. Activities must include active participation, teamwork, skills and practice to help foster the enjoyment of physical activity and socialization skills. Activities may include games, sport-related activities, dance, play and more. Curriculum is provided.

Requirements:

Preferred: Experience with or desire to work with youth in sports or fitness related activities; field of study in coaching, teaching, physical education,  exercise science, kinesiology, physical therapy, certified personal training, group fitness instructor and/or related fields.

Must have a current CPR certification or be willing to complete as soon as possible.

Must enjoy working with youth and must adhere to the YMCA code of conduct, mission and values.

Must possess excellent communication skills and work ethic.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Position: Membership Service Representative

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants.  Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area. Immediate opening for hours between 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  2. Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships and YMCA Programming
  3. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  4. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  5. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
  6. Controls member/guest access to facility.
  7. May hand out locker keys and towels; may monitor the locker rooms as required.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  3. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic
    segments of the community
  4. Previous customer service, sales or related experience.
  5. Basic knowledge of computers.

BUILDING & GROUNDS

Position: Evening Custodian

Days/Times:

Monday thru Friday: 6:00pm-12:00midnight

Weekend Hours Also Available

Duties:

Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas, including such duties as dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing of floors and other surfaces, and performs other custodial duties as required.  May move furniture and equipment, help with the set up for meetings/events, collects waste, paper and other debris, including recycling materials. May be required to assist in the striping and waxing of floor surface finishes. May be responsible for duties related to washing windows and marks on walls, performing laundry duties, and shoveling snow as needed. Cleans and dusts furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures and related furnishings. Generally assists in keeping premies in a clean and orderly condition. Locks and unlocks doors to offices and classrooms; provides security when buildings are not occupied. Performs minor maintenance and repairs to buildings and equipment and reports major problems. Reads and comprehends directions on labels for using chemicals safely.

Requirements:

Two or more years of professional cleaning experience is preferred.

Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.

May require availability to substitute for other shifts as needed.

Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment.

Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.

Must have a current CPR Certification or willingness to complete their certification.
